Fight For Air Stairclimb - Portland

Sunday, January 27, 2013, 4:00 PM - 11:00 PM

The Fight For Air Climb is a stairclimb event. Or as some like to call it a “vertical foot race”. This is a timed event that can be done by the serious “elite” athletes as well as family members of all ages. The Fight For Air Climb will be held at the US Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland. This year's goal is to raise $30,000 for the programs and services of American Lung Association. Climbers will take off in 12-second intervals and climb 20, 40, 80 or 160 floors as they ascend “Big Pink”. Upon completing, the climbers will take the elevator back to the lobby for food, fun and interactive booths. Participants can climb as a team or as an individual. You are a champion in the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air, and you help save lives today and keep Oregon healthy tomorrow.
Stair climbing is easy on the joints and has lower impact compared to walking. For those of you considering a New Year’s resolution, it burns 2x more calories in less time than other training. To compare, 15 minutes of stairclimbing = 30 minutes of running intensity. It’s a total body workout which involves your legs, lungs, heart and upper body.

Cost: Registration fee is $35 plus $100 fundraising minimum
